The round trip lasts three hours and ten minutes which includes 30 to 40 minutes on the summit. You return on the same train you went up on and your party needs to arrive 1/2 hour BEFORE your reserved departure time to purchase/pickup tickets..

1. You must telephone us if: you want to make reservations on the same day of the trip. Please call us at 1-719-685-5401 or 1-800-745-3773 to make reservations.
2. You must telephone us if: you need to take a wheelchair on the train. We have an extremely limited number of wheelchair spaces available on each train. Please make your reservation AT LEAST 3 days in advance of departure and notify us at 1-719-685-5401 or 1-800-745-3773 that you have a wheelchair in your party and also whether the wheelchair party can transfer or has to remain in the chair.
3. You must telephone us if: you are hiking or want a one-way ticket. Please call us at 1-719-685-5401 or 1-800-745-3773 to make reservations. There are a lot of restrictions and special things that you need to know about one-way tickets.
4. You must telephone us if: you have a group of 16 or more. Please call us at 1-719-685-5401 or 1-800-745-3773 to make a reservation. Our Group Rates start at 25 or more as long as one person is paying for the trip.
All other regular reservations can be made by our website (when available). As long as we have availability, you need to make reservations at least one day prior to date of trip. (From late May through late September, the earlier that you make your reservation, the better the chances of getting on the day and time that you would prefer).
Parking Passes required: $5.00 per Car/Motorcycle and $10.00 per RV/Trailer. These passes are good for the duration of your trip only (expire 30 minutes after your return). Passes are pre-purchased when making a reservation. For Walk-ups the passes will be bought after reservations are made. A Credit/Debit card is required. If you pre-purchased a parking pass, please have your RESERVATION NUMBER (6 digits) on hand to show the parking attendant.
Date and/or time changes are subject to a $3 per ticket fee. Any changes must be made at least 24 hours prior to original trip date and are contingent upon space availability.
Refunds/Cancellations are subject to a fee of $5 per person if cancelled 24 hours before your reserved date. There are no refunds or credits issued on reservations canceled less than 24 hours of your scheduled trip or after original trip date.
A valid American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa credit or debit card number is required to make an online reservation. Your credit card will be charged for the full amount when making the reservation. By ordering tickets online you are agreeing to all of your card issuer's terms and conditions. The complete address and phone number that matches the information on file with your credit card company must be provided as part of the approval process.
Your tickets will be available for pick-up, at the Manitou Spring's depot, on the day of your departure. Tickets must be picked up at least 30 minutes before departure on the day of travel. Please have your confirmation number available. You will receive an e-mail confirmation. (NOTE: Sometimes our replies are not received due to spam blockers.) Final boarding opportunity is 20 minutes prior to departure time. Unoccupied seats 20 minutes prior to departure time will be considered "no-show" and will be sold to waiting stand-by passengers.
Our modern railcars are not climate controlled but we have large sight seeing windows that open and close. Remember, the Summit is about 30 degrees cooler than at the Depot. Concessions and restrooms are NOT available on the train.
Children rates apply to ages 3-12. Children 2 and under can travel for free if held on a lap the entire trip.
We are sorry but we do NOT allow any pets aboard our trains.
All train seats are reserved in advance, and you will receive your seat assignments when you pick up your tickets. Every effort will be made to seat groups and families together if seperate reservations are made. Our software program assigns our seats-we are unable to assign specific seats. You will be seated together or told otherwise. Please note that every seat on the train is assigned and the seats you receive are assigned to you for the duration of your trip; we ask that you maintain those seats and do not move into perceived unoccupied seats without first checking with the Conductor.
The trains GENERALLY will run rain, snow or shine. During snowy periods, we will run partial trips if there are blizzard conditions on the upper mountain and the morning snow/section crew determines that it is not possible to keep the line clear all the way to the top. This is not determined until about 1/2 hour before departure time. If we do run a partial trip, the tickets prices are pro-rated depending on how far the trains go. We also have minimum limits on passenger counts. If there are not enough paying passengers (approximately 40 are needed to run a train), we reserve the right to cancel the train. This is VERY rare, but as the saying goes: "Schedule subject to change without notice"! If any of the above conditions applies and you prepaid for your reservation, your credit card will be credited. To be sure, always call in advance.
CAUTION: You will be traveling up to an elevation of 14,115 feet (4302 meters). Some people may experience altitude sickness which may include symptoms of dizziness, nausea and headaches. In addition, if you are pregnant or have cardiac or respiratory problems, it is advised that you not make the ascent without first consulting your physician.
