Health Restrictions & Information
Note: Over 250,000 people (from toddlers to seniors) take the train every year, and the vast majority  have no problems, but some people do experience discomfort or more serious symptoms. To minimize your chances of suffering from the symptoms listed below, it is advised that you get plenty of sleep the night before, avoid alcoholic beverages and drink plenty of water on the day of your trip. If you are unsure, consult a doctor!

Caution: You will be traveling up to an elevation of 14,115 ft. Some people may experience altitude sickness which may include symptoms of dizziness, nausea and headaches. In addition, if you are pregnant or have cardiac or respiratory problems, it is not advised that you make the ascent without first consulting your physician.

Group Regulations:

For your convenience and leisure, paid groups are pre-ticketed and seated together. This eliminates the need for groups to stand in a line or wait in a congested area. We recommend that the group wait on the bus until the group leader has picked up the tickets; this enables the leader to easily pass them out-each person must hold their own ticket and sit in their assigned seat.

Group rates and special school rates are for parties of 25 or more, and must pre-pay two weeks in advance. All groups of 25 or more must pre-pay all times of the season.

To make a group reservation, pre-payment must be received in full at least two weeks prior to departure. Unpaid reservations will be cancelled. Minor adjustments (5 or less) in group size will be made upon arrival, and any refunds will be issued accordingly.

All groups must arrive at the Manitou Springs depot at least forty minutes prior to departure time. The trains begin loading twenty minutes prior to departure time, and extra time is needed to pass out tickets, allow passengers time to use restroom facilities, pick up box lunches, etc. If your group will be late, please let us know ASAP!

Complimentary tickets are for the tour guide and/or bus driver only. they are issued according to group size as follows: 25 paying receive one (1) comp ticket; 26 through 50 paying receive two (2) comp tickets; each additional 25 paying will entitle the group to one (1) additional comp ticket for use by tour guides or bus drivers only, please.

Cancellations of whole groups made less than 48 hours prior to departure time will forfeit 25% of pre-payment.

We thank you for your compliance with these regulations. We truly appreciate your patronage of our attraction.

Box Lunches now available FOR GROUPS OF 15 OR MORE - Our Cafe can arrange for a box lunch for your group to take and enjoy on the trip up the mountain. We can also have them ready when you return if you are in a need to journey quickly to your next destination.
